swappin out the v6
Just to start i am new to the forum, i have a 95 3.8 5 speed mustang. I just recently blew the head gasket and i bought a wrecked GT that im gonna pull the engine out of it to put in my car since ive been talkin bout doin this swap for months and finally found the perfect excuse to convince my parents to go along with it. unfortuneately the GT is an automatic and i would like to keep it a 5 speed, will the 5.0 motor bolt up to this tranny, do i need a new bell housing?? and the MAF got destroyed in the accident so any suggestions where i can pick one of those up for cheap would be nice. Since im off for a couple weeks since school is out for christmas and so is my work i figured it would be a good project to tackle. let me know what u guys think!!

I don't think the tranny will bolt up, just go and get an aftermarket MAF from http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/. Just keep in mind, you're gonna have to practically strip your car down, and use almost every part off the GT to make it work on your car. Also, if you keep the T-5, you may have to have your ecu reprogrammed, or just buy a ECU made for manual GTs. All in all, it's gonna be a lot of work.

I believe the trans will bolt up, you'll need to get a 5.0L flywheel though for it to work. You'll also need a EEC-IV for the manual and a tranny harness also. Like he said before, you'll need most all the wiring etc. from the eec out. It would have been much easier (cheaper) if you could have found a manual GT. At any rate you should be able to pick up a MAF at your local yard or find a stock one on eBay fairly cheap. Also this is assuming your wreck is a 94-95 GT. It's pretty straight forward but takes some forethought especially since you are using an auto wreck. You'll need several of the t-5 parts from a 94-95 GT. If you run into specific problems keep asking....
