How do you set your TPS voltage?

How do you set your TPS voltage?
my car is being a little bitch, when i start it up it surges to 3000 then stays there unless i turn the AC on, then it falls to like 2500. When it warms iup it will fall to 1100 with the AC on and 1500 with it off. I;ve tried cleaning the 10 pin connectors, and i just replaced the IAC. It doesnt surge up and down like a dirty throttle body, it just stays at those high rpms. Normally before all this started it idled at 7-800 rpms.
This all started when i cleaned my engine bay. I used a can of degreaser then washed it off with a light hose spray. Then i sprayed on a can of detailer spray. When i went to turn it on it started all this surging crap.
So now the only thing i havent tried is messing with the TPS. I've never messed with one before so i dont know what i'm doing. Could someone expaling how to check the voltages, and how to set them, and also what the correct voltages are. Also how would i know if i have to replace the TPS?
This problem had been going on for 2 weeks now so if it was water somewere it should of evaporated by now.
Thanks again for all your help.

RE: How do you set your TPS voltage?
It won't be too bad, but you may want some help. The plug that goes to the TPS has 3 wires, Green, Black, and orange.
You want to measure the voltage across the Black and green wire's with the ignition on, but the engine off.
It should read from .9 to .99 volts DC at the IDLE position. A DVOM will be a handy meter to use for this.
Next you want to measure the voltage across these two wires at WOT, it should be 5.0 volts, or as close as you can get, mine only went to 4.66 volts.
Write down what you get for both of these so you know where to go from where you are.
You want to loosen the two adj. screws on the top of the TPS and have someone adjust the TPS while you hold the leads from the meter on the green and black wire connectors.
Make your adjustment and try to get it as close to .99 volts as possible and then tighten down the two screws, making sure Sensor doesn't move as the screws are tightened.
now open the TB to WOT and measure the voltage, it should be at or near 5.0 volts.
Bear in mind, you may have to go through this procedure of few times, but don't get upset. patience is you best friend at this point.
Good luck.

RE: How do you set your TPS voltage?
you might have to elongate the slots in the TPS with a Dremel tool in order to get enough movement to get the readings to what 90LX50 says, but this is easy enough to do so go for it and hope this helps with your problem.

RE: How do you set your TPS voltage?
FINALLY after 2 weeks i fixed it (with all your help).
It was the TPS, i didnt test it i just went to Autozone and got a new one and put it on there in the parking lot and BAM my idle was fixed.
That was such a relief to turn it on and not have it idle so high.
Thanks so much to all of you, this was definatly was the high point of a crappy week.
