Default 5.0 explorer motor

im looking at an explorer motor thats a 98 model year but 8/97 manufac. date.........does this motor still have the better intake and heads or is the cut off in the earlier 97 model year? im looking to upgrade my 93 5.0

Look at the heads, you'll be able to tell if theya re P heads or not, they spark plugs will come just about strait out of the head, isntead of pointing up like normal plugs.

someone told me you could tell by the oil pan, i dont know if theres any truth to this but i know it has an alum. pan if that means anything

tbhe heads will be either gt40 or gt40p's both are an upgrade look near the exhast manifold and see if its cast gt(gt40) or gtp(gt40p)

more than likely ill bring the motor home then, ayn info on the intake? it looks like my stock 5.0 for the most part, different plate on the top says V8. this is th part i was questionable about, i read a thread awhile back that compared the explorer intake to that of a cobra.....im just not sure if this is the right year for the intake they were speaking of
