hood scoops?
has anyone used one of those summit hood scoops. im looking at this one http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku. im wanting to do an intake spacer when i put my cam in and i thought that this would be a cheaper alternative to buying an aftermarket hood (for now).

RE: hood scoops?
Dude, that's a plastic, stick on scoop that's about as thick as a milk carton. It attaches with 3M tape fer chrissakes. It's not functional and would look like crap. Like the other poster said, get an early GT scoop if you want something that would look halfway decent. I had one on my car for a while. I didn't like it well enough to keep it, but at least it didn't blow off driving down the freeway.

As for your point about structural adhesives, apples and oranges here. We were talking about a piece of injection molded polystyrene plastic .050 inches thick stuck on a flexing steel hood with 3M tape. Not quite the same.

RE: hood scoops?
The real way to do that scoop is with fibreglass and bondo. Plus cut the vent open and cut a hole in yur' hood. If done correctly, after you paint the hood. It will look great. But one probem with doing it that way is it can crack the bondo over time. This is a typical problem. So, like said above. You can rivet it on, and clean the edges with bondo. But those rivets will be difficult to conceal. I would suggest getting a bolt on one from summit. Then use bondo to mold it onto the hood. You can just stick/revit/bolt it on. But it will look cheap.
