Default Auto to 5 speed swap

Hey guys, Im new here and it looks like Ill be picking up a 93 5.0 but the downside is its an auto. I was wondering how hard it is to put a 5 speed in it. How much would a used T5 cost me appx? or do you think I could trade my auto for one? Sorry if this has been posted before. Thanks

you may want to consider keeping it an auto.... you can still have alot of fun with an AOD with a shift kit

I really had my mind set on a manual. I will keep it auto if I absolutely have to but I think id have way more fun with the ability to shift myself.

check out http://www.wcfords.com/articles/tech/t5swap/t5swap.html

the most complete swap site you will find ANYWHERE

swapping an aod for a t5 is like adding 100 hp to the car, i've had lots of mustangs and i speak from experience not "what i've heard" the lack of gearing in an aod is phenomenal
aod 1st gear = 2.40
t51st gear = 3.35

if you multiply the rear gear X the 1st gear for total gera, you will see that a aod needs 4.10's to equal a t5 w/ 3.08's

a million reasons to swap, not 1 to keep it. if you have to be auto, go c4

Glad someone posted a similar topic! Good information, I might end up getting an auto simply because I have seen them cheep lately. I got my 89 with a solid t-5 so we will see what happens.
