socket to fit oil sending unit
well trying to get my sending unit out i think i broke it.. the gauge reads nothing at all now and the plastic piece around it just basicaly dangling there..
i tried to fit a 1" socket around it.. no fit
tried to fit a 1 1/4" wrench around it.. no room
the sending unit i bought dosnt really look like the old one. the fittings are the same but the overall shape/size is different. mine looks like a ball and the stock one is like a rectangle

RE: socket to fit oil sending unit
autozone carrys special long sockets for that. also there shouldn't be any large difference in the style. bring it back and verify, or check another store and look at what they have.

RE: socket to fit oil sending unit
got it from summit
autozone wanted $40 and summit wanted $15
it says direct OEM replacement
im kinda confused on the whole mechanical/electrical thing now because my autometer gauge requires a copper tubing to the sending unit but the stock one uses a boot that goes to a wiring harness.. im assuming its electrical?
maybe someone can shed some light on this whole thing

RE: socket to fit oil sending unit
Are you doing a oil pressure guage? There should be a 9/16ths nut at the bottom of the sending unit where in goes into the little tree that comes out of the block. You should be able to take the sending unit off with a wrench, its just a little cramped. Then screw the oil fitting adapter into the oil pressure gauge hole. You are hooking up a mechanical guage I assume?
