Default feul pump problems ??

ok heres the problem my car is making this weird noise like a moaning noise I was told it was my feul pump and i was wondering if this is the reason my car isnt livly when i hit the gas peddle and if i hold down the gas a lil bit my car gurggles like its either getting to much or not enough gas and could this be the reason why my exhaust isnt sounding how it used to??

Buy or borrow a fuel pressure gauge. Install it on the return line, (relieve pressure first) turn on car, go to the gauge and see what the PSI is at. If it is stock it should be around 38 PSI. If it looks ok, go ahead and rev the engine and see if the PSI drops. Its should drop like about 6 or PSI on a rev. Anymore then you might have to change that pump.

yeah kinda

when you turn on the key only...you should hear it hum for about 3-5 seconds

if your going lean or too phat it will not run strong

you really need to get a guage on it, see what it's doing.

could also be spark issues though, so you need to elimintae if it's fuel or spark, then start to narrow from there.

free way to check spark is to close the plug gap down to about .030" if it runs strong there, your sprak is weak for some reason, could be plugs, coil, dizzy , dizzy mod

but elimintae one of them, then go from there.

i just did my fuel pump in my 90 vert, my car was having problems starting would take like 1-4 cranks b4 it would start up and i noticed it was starting to run like crap once i got into 4k+ rpm range jerking and stuff. Put in a new 190lph bbk fuel pump from jegs also a note about the pumps if you get anything under a 190lph bbk pump it comes with much less things for the install, (the 190 came with a new strainer, new rubber hose, new harness, and new clips for the lines was pretty nice)MANNNNN it made a huge difference fuel pump was bad all the long [&:]
