cast pistons are made by melting the aluminum and pouring it in a cast of the part and letting it harden
hyperutectic pistons are made the same way but contain 16% silicon
forged pistons are made by pouring the molten aluminum in the mold, but they add lots of pressure and it makes it denser, and stronger, cast pistons tend to usually break in a bunch of pieces if it fails, because the particles are spread apart, while the forged ones will usually melt before they break
