Default Idea for more air flow...

say you have a CAI in the fenderwall.right, where the filter sits drop it down about 1 1/2 ft down near the ground sp colder air being blown up, also the filter would sit farther away from the engine bay(possible colder air), I drew a pict to show if you dont get what I mean. youll need a PVC or other type of pipe, clamp and elbow.would you gain from it?

you mite actually loose horsepower from that juss because of all the bends ur making. the smoother the air intake is the more power ur gonna get. id stick with a fenderwll inake. but if u do make it and it does work let us no

i would just stick with the stock air box with silencer removed and a k&n panel filter i think the cold air intakes are just jokes but that is just my opinon

I have a freind who owns a civic. He has the pipe running down parrallel with the bottom of the radiator. After he drives it for a while if you touch the pipe it's almost ice cold. He says the only draw back is when it rains and the roads get flooded he cant drive because it will choke out his engine. plus the chance of water surging up thru the pipe and ingesting in to your engine. The older 5.0 s had the air inlet running up from the bottom of the fender well. Kind of like a ram air system. Not much gain in HP with the stock air intake system though.
I've always thought that the ac unit blowin all that nice cold air inside the car could be channelled to the air intake system too.

ok so speaking of air intake, i've always heard that removing the silencer will give you small gains and better air intake but i uh.....dont know where it is can someone help me out please?

the silencer is located in the fenderwell on the other side of the box holding the air filter. remove the filter and remove the three bolts holding the filter housing in place and then you have access to the bolts holding the silencer in place. take these loose and you can remove the silencer and drop it out in front of the tire, you might have to turn the wheel a bit to get it out. then put back the air filter housing and hook everything back up and you're done. if you look at how small the opening is in the silencer in relation to the opening in the fenderwell to the air filter, you will get some idea of how restrictive it is for airflow into the engine.
