well consitering the input shaft is 7/8, the exrta 7/8 is in the splines, so if you cut 7/8 off the end of the input shaft ten there won't be anything to sit in the pilot bearing...

the best way is to get hte right input shaft and swap them, or get the right tranny in the first place
