Default 460 for dirt cheap

i have a friend that is selling his 460 and c6 tranny for 300 bucks to get rid of it. is it worth it? i don't know the condition of either but he said the motor is running right now and would have to pull it out of the car if i wanted it. what do u think?

now another question would it be worth the extra effort to put down in my notch? or would it better to keep with my orginal idea of a stroked out 351w and 11:1cr with some nitrous

if you dont plan on puttin it through the twisties and using it mostly for a drag car/weekend toy then the 460 will obviously make more power a little easier. it just costs a little bit more. but think if you slapped some high comp. pistons in it, alum intake (since those bad boys are friggen huge!) and some nitrous. the best way i could prolly describe that would be imagine the exhaust note on that bad mama jama

I would find a c4 tranny but I would stick 460 in. Definitly rebuild it though, most of fords 460s have cams retarded 6 degree from the factory so just replacing the timing chain will yeild a noticable power gain. You can easily and pretty cheaply make 500hp out of a 460.
