Default New motor having problems

I just recently got my motor rebuilt and I have it in the car but I am having a problem getting it started. Im having problems getting fuel to the carb, is there a way to prime the gas to get it flowing? I was told to pour gas in the carb and to try to get it to fire and it will start pumping. (manual pump) any help or advice or tips would be appreciated.

Did you put the fuel pump cam back on the engine? If not the pump will not work it has nothing to push the lever to create the vacume to pull the fuel.

Can you get it running by pouring small amounts of fuel in through the carb? Also do you have the pump shaft on the right side of the cam.. I am not sure if its possible but thought I would ask. Also are you positive the pump is good?
