fuel pump question
i was just wondering if the connections for an '84 fuel pumpand sender were the same for an '87. my problem is i swapped a carbed 5.0 into my 2.3 '87 and now I can only use the first ten gallons in my tank and then my car acts like it ran out of gas. i know i could replace with the same but i don't need 45-55 psi in my fuel line since the motor pump and carb only allow 5-9 psi and it's alot cheaper for the carbed version. so anybody know if they are the same connection or do i have to modify the wiring to fit?

RE: fuel pump question
carb'ed motors use mechanical fuel pumps bolted to the block, there is no pump in the tank, just a pickup.
if your experiencing fuel starvation after 10 gallons, you more than likely need a new tank, as the baffle has broken loose.

RE: fuel pump question
i was wondering that to but everything worked perfect before the swap. But i thought the carbed version had an intank pump as well due to being to much stress on the motor pump and i can buy an intank pump at autozone. i wonder what happened during the swap? anyways anyonehave an idea?

RE: fuel pump question
chancesareits not the baffle..i had prob same. i wasstarvin for fuel after a carb set up in a efi car...if ya use the stock efi pump you will need a regulater to pull pressure down...i had to go to a holley electric fuel pump to pull gas outta tank ,and not starve forfuel....i had a holley mechanical fuel pump on motor with a small electric one.amd still didnt work after car warmed up and a few miles it died....save yaself all the headache and get a high pressure with a regulater pump (electric) and get goin..
