Idle problem, when I step on the brakes, 90 Mustang GT
Ok, when I start my car in the morning and step on the brakes the check engine light comes on and RPMs start to bounce, ultimately until the car turns off. I havent done anything to the car, I actually just bought it and it rangood for the first couple of days. The car used to begaraged now it sitsoutside, thats the only change I can report. As long as I'm on the gas and off the brake the car runs fine, but as soon as I shift into neutral and step on the brake and come to a complete stop the car startstripping and the checkengine light comes on, when Ilet go of the brake and give it gasthe check engine light goes away, can anybody help? All help is appreciated, and you can call me if you have any advice. Joe 310-425-6963

RE: Idle problem, when I step on the brakes, 90 Mustang GT
I'm thinking htere's a problem with the brake booster as well. The brake booster uses engine vacuum to assist you in stopping the car. If there's a problem there, then when you step on the brake you're gonig to have a vacuum leak and it will make your engine run like crap.
