Hey guys,
I used to be into the 5.0 mustangs but i never got into modding them past a cat-back. There have been many new parts that have come out since i last researched, so i was wondering what is the best bang for my dollar to put soem more kick into a 5.0.
I dont have plans for the track, just want some extra power for the sreet. i have about 2-3 grand maybe, including all of the installation prices that i could not do myself. I like what people have said about the trick flow heat intakes and i could install that, but i do not know if i need any supporting mods to help it along. (i.e. TB, MAF, that kinda stuff).
I also really want to do a full exhaust system. Headers back if anyone has good info on a power/price combo.
Thanks for the help. Theres thousands of parts out there and i believe some of the new stuff may be better.
J

Auto or Manual? First mods should always be gears.. Auto 4.10's Manual 3.73's.. With 3 grand you would get a pretty quick fox.. I would do a h/c/i.. With all supporting mods with 3 grand plus suspension to get the power to the ground..

Definitely gears first. Can you do a head/cam/intake swap yourself or would it be done professionally? With instructions it's not too hard

Its a stick and the 3.73s were going to be my first swap. I have a 2007 gt with the 3V 4.6. It is a pretty fast car and i have a hurst shifter and i like it very much. Do you have a quality shifter for the 5.0, and is there any way after a cam/intake/head swap maybe with a complete exhaust could beat my stock 07 gt running around a 13.5 in the 1/4 - 0-60 in 5.1?
And i am not sure i could do the head and cam swap. I know the 5.0 is easier to work on than a new 4.6, but i would never try that on my 07. It seems like i could really mess something up. What else would you need to put heads/cam in. new springs/valves, etc.
Thanks

For some good power I've heard good things about the Trickflow engine Kit, pretty much has everything from Intake, Cam, timming chain etc.... I've been looking into it for myself actualy. You do have to buy a TB, MAF and Fuel pump seperatly I believe.

As for your exaust system, I've been really happy with my BBK long tubes and Flowmaster H-pipe and cat back system. Gives it a nice growl but not overly that you can't hear yoursel in the car ! Mind you the long tube instalation was not the easiest thing to do lol

Cheers,
Jo

There alot of things that should/could be done when installing a h/c/i. Exhaust, tb, maf, fuel pump, reg, injectors, suspension, cooling, updated ignition (dont need to go crazy), etc.
