how much gear is too much

RE: how much gear is too much
If you ever planning on going faster n/a or forced indution at a later date, I would recommend 3.73s. With 4.10s, once you get in the mid 11's, you start running out of gear before you get to the traps. I don't think you want to powershift into 5th at the 1,100 ft mark

at this point ..i am not interested in running 11;s//just 12.50 or so..cause i will be dring this car to and from the track..40 miles one way..i know that once i get the bug again i will want to go faster..it always happens..but after 12;s and getting into the 11;s ..it starts getting really expensive..and maintanice on the car and crap...i want to drive to the track ..with my cruise on 65..with the a-c going ..run 12.50;s and drive it home..and not have to work on it every day week end i go out there...this is one of the biggest reason i went back to fords..is cause i know that a mustang will run ..and still be able to drive ..and once it is tuned in ..the injectjon is sweet to have..not the old school carb..that has to be adjusted all the times..and adjust the valves ..after every pass..

no, with my '88 AOD with the stock 2.73 factory rear gears, I turned 2,000 rpm crusing at 70 mph in overdrive and the engine rpms only went up to 2,350 rpm when I installed the 3.72 rear gears. car was lots more fun to drive with the 3.73 too.!
