need help!!!!!! rockers adjustments
helping friend adjust his rockers. when the exhaust rocker went down we would adjust the intake 3/4 of turn(when at zero lash), then when intake went down then started to go back up we adjusted the exhaustat (at zero lash). ok then tryed to start car and sounded like he had no compression at all, like the valves were over tight just a bit. like the valves were hanging open. engine was spinning over way too fast. would this be because of over tight rockers. when we do it again what is the best way to adjust rockers? how do you tell if rockers are adjustable or not? its a 1991 mustang with a 306 and after market ford racing cam. stock heads and rockers. I think they are stock rockers, they look stud mount. has bolt, then rocker, then nut. need help.

RE: need help!!!!!! rockers adjustments
lets see if this helps:
start with cylinder at tdc on the compression stroke (this should be when both pushrods are at there lowest point)
place rockers on and hand tighten while spinning the pushrod with your thumb and index finger until you feel friction with the rocker arm
this is when you tighten the rocker arm down to 16-18ft-lb (this should happen within 1/4 to 3/4s of a turn)
what set of rocker did you get. i know the cobra 1.7s are 18 ft-lb and for some reason the FRPP 1.6 rockers say 16 ft-lbs.

are you shure. tryed 20lbs and those things were going down so far we coudnt even crank the motor by hand. like the valves were hiting the pistons. so I looked on crane and the said you do it 1/4 turns no more than 1 full turn from zero lash. is spining the push rods a good way to find out zero lash?
