Default Fuel issue? Ignition issue? ARGH!

Was driving the other day.. stopped to say hi to some friends, went to take off, got to the street... hit the gas.. rpms didnt want to go up. then the car died out... wouldnt start... kept cranking it.. when it would start it would run terribly.. a little bit of backfire.. sounded like it was missing.. the people around said sounded like it was out of gas... i had a third of a tank, but i figured maybe my guage was wrong.. so about 10 mins later i put some gas in and she fired right up.. filled it up.. but it only took like 30 litres.. so it wasnt that empty.

then yesterday, drove about 45 mins to another town.. cruised around.. went a couple places.. then heading back.. was most of the way home.. was in a 60 zone, it changed to 80.. i was in 4th gear.. i put my foot down.. car didnt want to go..
then it died.. again...

cranked it a bunch of times.. didnt wanna start.. then when it would, i could only get the rpm up to about 4 grand before it started dying again..

let it sit for about 10 mins... fired it up... drove home.

any ideas?

the baffle in the fuel tank could have came loose, or the fuel filter could be plugged, but more than likely the baffle came loose.

+1 on the baffle in the fuel tank, does anything happen when you take a hard left or right hand turn

This is a little idea. Well 2 of umm. I had a 91 camaro when i floored it, it would die wait 3 mins would start run fine. If i took a hard corner same thing die wait 3 mins start fine. Ended up being the fule pump cut off switch went bad. ( Used to kill fule in wrecks). Now in my 89 caprice if i truned a corner hard orstomped it, it would spudder then die and lil cranking up would start and run fine. Ended up being water in the gas tank. ( was a hunch of mine i droped the tank drained it put a new screen on the filter, put new gas in her problem solved) Now both or witch may not be your problem but something to mabey check
