pulled engine....oil coming out of flywheel

RE: pulled engine....oil coming out of flywheel
Dude if you have all the oil coming out of the bolt hole holding the flywheel to the crank you got a serious problem! There is no way for oil to get to the inside of the bolt hole without serious crank damage! Sounds like you may have a broken crank to me!

Sorry, I jumped the gun, Lionhart is right. I just went out to the garage and checked. On a roller shortblock I have sitting, the flywheel bolts DO go completely thru the flange.

you should of noticed thread sealant on the bolt you took off, red colored.
nothin wrong with that motor man,
more than likely your gonna find spung main and rod bearings and need of a set of new rings.

lol yea luckily I had a large bucket nearby and managed to catch at least half of the oil. i'll never forget to drain the motor again! You guys have me excited to finish stripping down the block this weekend. Ill let you all know how it goes, and if i can borrow my roomates camera Ill take some pictures

RE: pulled engine....oil coming out of flywheel
me and my roomate finished taking off the heads and oil pan, and the crankshaft is still in good condition from what i can see, and the engine turns over nicely. The timing chain is nice and tight so I cant see what the problem was with the motor
