Every once in awhile when I am just sitting at a light my oil pressure goes really low. I notice this happens mostly after I get on it. Other times it sits in the middle of the guage.

Is there a reason this happens? Could I be low on oil?

check oil level. and make sure ur using the oil recommended by ford or another brand mobil.1 ect and the right viscocity <---dono how to spell that heh

if everythings ok look into the switch or checking the pressure with a manuel gadge

I'll check the oil level. Ever since I had the oil light come on on me, I keep extra oil in the car -

whenever this happens, immediately shut off the car and check oil level, everytime you fill up check the oil level.

Usually this meens your VERY LOW ON OIL 2 quarts

I know for a fact that my dipstick tube doesn't read correctly. At 3 1/2 to 4 quarts the oil level on the dipstick is reading full. I know damn well that this motor takes 5 quarts.

That or oil pump gears are wearing badly.

The engine does need a tune up and I am working on that. Replacing my header bolts since I am missing one, new fuel filter, water pump (mine is missing, don't ask - [8D]) and the door handles, damn plastic door handles!

How many miles are on the motor ? You could have larger problems like worn bearings and such. The pump creates flow, and if the passages are getting worn ( getting larger ) than your oil pressure very well could drop, which is bad in any case.

135K miles.

At idle it goes up and down, but doesn't always do this, just when I get on it from time to time. Otherwise it just stays in the middle.

It might just be low on oil and I hope that is all, I will check the oil and add some in if it needs.
