Default Exhaust Question

My exhaust has been cut about an inch after the muffler. I'm planning on getting turndowns/dumps put on today but my question is what's the benefit?

no performance benefit. just points the exhaust fumes down towards the ground instead of back towards the back of the car. just gets less fumes in the car that way. if it was me i would just put some tailpipes on it. i got the chrome lx tailpipes on mine and i think they look good.

i dont really like the pipes on the foxbody's but thanks for the info. I have noticed that I do smell some fumes. How much would you guess it would cost for someone to bend and weld some turndowns on?

you can just go to a parts store like auto zone or something and buy pre bent turndowns for like 5 bucks a piece and buy 2 exhaust clamps and clamp them on youreself.
