Default RE: coil over question...

Yep, a kit like Maximum Motorsports has a threaded sleeve that fits over the strut. Some brands of struts need a larger diameter sleeve than others. The sleeve stays put because the strut has a bracket welded to the very bottom of it (the sleeve cannot go past the bracket). The sleeve is also notched to fit around the bracket and prevent the sleeve from rotating. The bracket at the base of the strut is used to attach the strut to the spindle. The sleeve has a (for lack of a better word) large nut that acts as the bottom spring perch for the coil-over spring. I think some people call the nut a collar. By adjusting this nut up and down the threaded sleeve, one can adjust the ride height of the car. As stated earlier, the base of the spring sits atop the nut. The top of the spring presses against a special spring perch that houses a thrust bearing. This spring perch then presses against the caster camber plates and strut tower. The strut rod goes through a hole in the center of the upper spring perch. The factory strut support were not designed to support the loads coil-overs apply. Therefore, quality aftermarket caster camber plates are a must with coil-overs.

Yes, I rerouted all the wires from under the hood to outside the fender.
