what are the advantages of the 5.0 liter pushrod engines?? i've been hearing people talking about the "pushrod" engine.....i'd like to know what it is? thanks in advance 5 point slow'sare the only thing i ever heard of.....

Well a pushrod engine has a single cam, and its in the block, under the valves and it uses lifters to push a pushrod up to open a rocker that opens the valves. The other kind of engine is an overhead cam engine. The 4.6L engine is a overhead cam engine, where the cam(s) sits on top of the valves.

i still dont'get it... so having cams inside the blockgives more power ?... like whats the advantage of a 5.0pushrod againstthe 4.6overhead, and i did try googling and it didnt' realy help much

It's just a different engine design. People favor the 5.0 because it's a lot cheaper to build than the 4.6L, and can make good power when built right. Pushrod engines are also a lot more simple to work on. I believe the overhead cam design is more efficient in making power though, but not sure.

easy to build, cheap parts, reliable, make good power for not alot of parts, been around forever so it is widely developed.......

Overhead cams are better, more efficient. Theres less rotating mass on a pushrod engine, and also pushrod engines are MUCH easier to work on. +1 on what everyone else said.
