Default Oil Pan Leak(PC Valve)?

I have a oil pan gasket leak on the left rear of the pan. I read that the pc valve screen gets clogged and causes the weakest gasket to blow. IfI replace the valve and the screen will it help the leak at all, at least until i can get the gasket replaced. I have a 90 GT auto. Also, do I need to jack the motor up a few inches to get enough room to clear the crossmember to change the oil pan gasket?

i dont think replacing the PCV valve will do much for you now, but yes, you have to raise the motor a few inches to get the pan out to do the gasket. i have to do this relatively soon, too.
