Default air con field coil

In short, the clutch and coil needs replacing on my SN95 air con compressor.
I have got the clutch assembly off ok, but can't for the life of me get field coil off!
Anyone does this, know whats making it stick on?
I have all the new parts and as im sure you will agree, nothing more frustrating than a stuck part!
There is something holding it on, but i just cant see what!

Im getting tempted to buy a pully, and pull the air con out all together!

Thanks
D

Some are pressed on and some have a snapring holding them on. The snap ring would be at the front of the coil and you'd be able to see it. If not, it's pressed on. Take a couple of large sized screwdrivers, one on each side of the coil and wedge them between the coil and compressor and pry it off. Make sure you put the electrical connection in the same spot on reassembly. You will need a soft faced deadblow hammer to reinstall the coil. You have to be very carefull upon reassembly not to damage the coil. It is kind of delicate and if you damage the front face of it you will have issues putting the pullry/bearing assembly back on. The clutch plate has to be shimmed as well upon installation. Those are what the lil washers are that hopefully came in the replacement kit you have. They go on the shaft before the clutch.

Thank for the reply

I have a reassemble guide here http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl168i.htm
Everything but the coil lol.

I have tried the brute force approach, the nice approach, even had a 2nd pair of eyes look at it, incase i was missing something simple, but itwont move so something is holding it on. I suspect a retainer clip on the inside, but short of removing the compressor, or pulling the radiator, im not going to be getting at it.
Removing the compressor is next step i think, but im scared to death of the gasses

I also found this http://www.warnerelectric.com/pdf/819-0316_P-1401.pdf
I reckon the clip they mention in there might not be far off??

Your second link shows the retaining clip in the diagram. You should be able to see it once the pulley assembly is off.
