ANY carb has to be tuned to the engine it's on. You can plug n play a Street Avenger, but to get best performance you'll most likely have to tweak it a bit
Well yes i figured that. I'm good for adjusting A/F, floats, secondary springs, and idle speed. Past that, what's left. Jets? Would it need new jets, or would the "tweaking" just involve the things listed above?

Can't tell till you run it and check your plugs, may need jets, may not. Even if it does the Street Avengers aren't hard to change out at all. Might need a different power valve too. Generally they're pretty close if you select the right carb

So the jets and power valve are pretty easy to replace if it comes to that? Do you have to take the carb off the intake to change these things? Thanks for all the help, i'm a noob to carb tuning.

You shouldn't, just take the bowl off. It might be easier to unbolt the carb and pull it to get at it, depending on how you're set up. It's not hard though

yeah its easy.... carbs are super easy to work on, a little harder to get to work right.

thats probably the best way it could be summed up. i like the BG carbs (holley design) because they have the trick stuff already on them like clear bowl sight plugs for setting float levels, 4 corner idle adjustment on even the vacuum secondaries, plus they are made from billet and high quality aluminum instead of crappy pot metal.

btw to the guy that said [:'(] to holley and edelbrock but likes carters....... a carter and an edelbrock are the same damn thing [8D]

I've been running Holleys carbs since 1973 or so.
No, you do not usually need to take the carb off the intake to get to the power valve or the jets.
Be very careful with the jets and use the proper tool to change them with. Same with the power valve if you need to do anything with it.
In fact, a Holley carb can be 'rebuilt ' if you are careful without taking it off the manifold.........

If it makes you feel better, I'm putting a 570cfm Street Avenger on my dd 302, and it's by no means going to be a slouch(if I ever get it together!!)
