Default need input

right now i have a mx6 4cyl and it is having problems (176,000 miles) and is very slow.

i have been lookin at fox 5.0 (87-93) and was wondering if this would be a bad choice for my next car money wise. I am planning on getting a decent one for $4000 paying cash so no payments. Do things break a lot on the fox mustangs where $400 a month (already took out gas and insurance) would not be enough to maintain it??? I am going to look for one w/ low miles and preferable a GT.

Any input is greatly appreciated along w/ past experiences.

can't go wrong with a 5.0, if its a stick run through the gears real good make sure there is no grinding, t-5's usually are beaten pretty bad over the years. look for a 89-93 because they have mass air. plus mustang parts are cheap compared to other cars.

your lookin for a car thats 20 years old....theres plenty of stuff bound to already be wrong..
make sure you know exactly what your looking for before layin out the cash. and if your lookin to spend 4 g's....that could get you a hella good 5.0 to start off with. i spent 1800 on mine and it had a rebuilt trans w/4k miles, motor only had 80k miles. and the body is really clean.

Lucky sob. Just check for rust, make sure the engine idles and runs ok, check that it goes into every gear, make sure brakes work properly and look at the tires. I looked at one car to buy, and the rear tires were bald (front ones weren't) and the front brakes were shot...hm, wonder what that means...
