it is possible that your tranny is not stock.... which would suck for you... because you wont have the cool "cobra" parts in your tranny

I think tremec bought the rights to the tranny after they stopped putting the t5 in mustangs. I've never seen a stock stang with a t5 tremec in it. They are all aftermarket

what it is, is a T-5Z which has a 2.95 first gear and a .63 overdrive which means run 1st a little more and tach less in 5th, like if you have 3.73 or 4.10 gears. Its rated at 330ft/Ib of torque when the factory t-5 W/C is 265. Tremec bought out borg warner, basically same trans but different name. The tranny is also $1300 new. Has upgraded 2nd and 3rd which usually go first and improved synchros and bearings, and a steel bearing retainer. You mad out good.

FYI... the t-5 was used up till 2004

[ul][*] Borg Warner and Tremec
About 1998, Tremec bought the T5 product line from Borg Warner and have produced the T5 used ever since. Note that the transmission is the same although the case stamp will say Tremec or Borg Warner depending on who manufactured it. [/ul]
