Default Oil pan and RTV

Anyone use only RTV to seal there oil pan?

why dont you just get the felpro molded rubber gasket with the steel core?

Man, that ****'s horrible. I wouldn't do it..... DO put some in the corners of the pan though, right at the corners around the humps in ur pan. otherwise leakage will begin

Not if you get the good gasket! I just use a little tack just to hold it in place, and thats it!

I've done it on cars where gaskets aren't easily avaibable and they have held up. But with a oil pan gasket available for $20. I think I would spend the money doing it right the first time. Because after you rtv the hell out of it and it leaks your going to have to scrape all that rtv off to put a gasket on. Its also going to leak easily at the rear rear and front since theres a pretty larger gap, its not very flat.

use the fel-pro gasket. ive had a good seal with mine.
