Default Mustang Optimizer

Has anyone heard of a optimizer that hooks up to or between the mass air. I was told this would correct my irratic idle problem due to 42lb injector set up. If you have can you direct me to a good web site to do some research. I was told that they sell for 350 or so. thanks alot.

i have 42# injectors and dont need any optimizer. i know what your part your talking about and it sounds like a band aid for another problem. youd be better off finding the cause of your irratic idle.

$350 for an "optimizer?" If you're going to spend that much, why not just buy the base model TwEECer and tune it right? It's better than some bandaid fix.

I agree with Sam...

The money you could spend on a 'tuning' tool is better spent on better tuning tools.

I have always heard good reports on how effective these devices are.
However, I have never found anyone who did any decent datalogging with one.

My main concern is that you are still lying to the ecu about true airflow, in order to get a desired AFR.
This introduces error in the LOAD calculation. The ecu then uses the erroneous LOAD numbers to fine tune the AFR and Ignition Timing.
These are just my theories at this point, I haven't been able to prove anything yet...

I say pass on it, and dig into a tuning system that will allow you to make REAL changes...

I replaced the IAC and still does same thing. I have a performance shop that advised me that i needed the optimizer and then the fine tuning. The vehicle has not been tuned. I was trying to get it to run correct prior to taking it. This shop that recommended it also does the tuning. I have had nothing but problems since i did the new motor install. All these shops are just spending my money and I am getting no where. I am not knowledgable when it comes to the tuning part of the motor. What tuning part would be the best to buy if it will correct the problem
