Dude, its not about racing experience. It is about common sence! Think about it, you are basicly filling your internal water passages with cement! There is no room for water when you fill them with the stuff! If you don't have water in your radiator, what happens? It overheats! Use your head!
It is about experiance. If you knew how/what parts of an engine actually get the hottest, you would'nt be commenting. If a block is filled to the core plugs (aka freeze plugs) there is still room for coolant in the upper half of the block PLUS the heads which are the hottest area. Yea the car will need a better radiator and the system will have to be up to par, but it can/will work. Will it keep the block from spliting? I doubt it, but it might help a little bit. Use your head.

It's sll pointless, plus the guy never mentioned how far he intended to fill the block. That's a big point

yea creekrat u kinda put you foot in you mouth... if you would think about it the top half of the block is were everything major is really goin on.... were all the heat is created.... so u really dont need to cool something thats not hot.... that being the bottom half... so i can see how a block plugs up to but not over the freeze plugs could.. i repeat could work....

i think JD is rite ull have to have a very nice coolant setup there... so that might be 400 bucks on a radiator... not sure if its worth it.... and how much straighten will u can from just pulling half the block... thats a bigger question really.... if its goin to spilt down the lifter valley then reinforing the bottom engine might not do much good.... if u are lucky and get another 50 hp outta a stock block but u have to buy a 4-500 buck cooling system and pay for hte block work ull already be gettin close to the price of a nice aftermarket block.... only about half of it but still... half is a ltota money for just 50hp more of tolorance.... i say dont so it for hte simple reason that u might spend more money than u want to or more than its even worth

side note.... are u coming up to Eville tomorrow not.. there is a huge cruise in on franklin street all day long.... im thinking 1130-10 or somethan like that... give me a holla if you up here we can meet up

Spending money on a good coolant system is never a bad thing, it will work for many years and engine combinations to come.

How is a block fill going to stop a block from splitting? Left and right water jackets aren't connected. It's not like glue anyway.
And the lower parts of the water jacket help cool the oil too.

why the hell would u do that, when first off u have a 351w jasper which is good for what 600 to the wheels probably, thats a nine and a half second car right there, especially wit suspension. second, if ur aiming for below nines why the hell are u still going wit a small block, a big block will actually be cheaper to get there b/c u have the advantage of the torque and power they already create. jmo good luck
