Default Question about fuel pump install...pictures

Okay, I don't want to have to do this again so I want to be sure I am doing it all right. I am putting in a walbro 255lph pump and I got this hose that doesn't seem to fit anywhere. Do I have to modify my pickup or do I have an F'ed up pick up? See, last pump I put in I just used a short peice of hose and I was going to reuse it(it is on the pump now) but I just wanted a little input from you guys as to why this other hose that came with the kit doesn't look right. I would have to cut the pickup line from the bracket to get this hose to fit.

You cut it above the bracket(the metal line ??)? So your pickup looked like mine? Or did you just cut the hose?

Sound easy enough, but why is it different?

pump fits more than 1 vehicle. some pickup assemblys are rubber hoses all the way up to the top, some aren't.

Probably because some people have aftermarket pickups in their tank. Rather than have a bunch of people bitching because there's no molded hose to connect to the aftermarket pickup (where the metal nozzel would be way shorter), they included a premolded hose and will tell you " just cut it to fit"

See, i wasn't sure...the directions didn't say anything about cutting to fit. I just looked up a pump at NAPA and it came with that hose(my year specific) and the Assembly had a metal line routed differently running that molded hose. I just didn't know if mine was different for some reason...
