As long as the front is towards the front that's all that matters, there's really no top or bottom. On the Fel Pro 1011-2's I used they looked identical on each side so you couldn't tell which one was "flipped"

you guys crack me up. the gaskets regulate the flow of where its going, if you start cutting holes in the gasket your gonna have water flowing where its not supposed to which could cause water to not properly flow thru any given area. basically you could be creating a hot spot.
and yeah, the gaskets are the same, you flip one over (the gasket doesnt know which way is up when its squeezed between two pieces of metal
