Default how mcuh should i be looking to spend?

i have always wanted a mustang. now that im out of the army and have a stedy job back home with some money saved up im ready to start shopping for one. im looking to but a 88-93 i like them all a 5.0 GT with no rust. i live in michigan. should i look more on how the body is? and i could put a crate motor in it? or sould i try to find one under 100,000 miles? basically what im asking what should be the key things im looking at and also how much should i expect to spend on the car?

if ur looking for a fox it deffinately shouldnt be that high. I wouldent pay more than 5 thousand for one. 9 thousand would be crazy.

Make sure it isn't twisted, look for one with a decent body and is clean underneath also, 5.0's are pretty durable so the mileage isnt a really big issue. I woul buy one with 120,000-150,000 if the price was right. Just make sure the motor doesnt have any major issues, and make sure the rear main seal doent leak. Make sure the trans. has no issues, especially if its a 5 speed, we all know how they are abused. My buddy had one modified heavily and had 277,000 on the bottom end and was still going strong until he wrapped it around a tree driving drunk.

oops, I didn't answer your origonal question. I would say $3000-$5000 for a decent one depending on condition and modifications. If I were you, I'd look for one that had some stuff done to it like exhaust, gears, etc. That will save you some money because it gets expensive modifying them. Mine had several mods when I bought it and I paid $5000 for it, of course I have continued to do things to it to make it better and faster.
