t5 Problems Found
Well, my problem to begin with was I had no second gear, I could put it in second, and let the clutch out, and the motor just free revved. So, I yanked my tranny out on my vacation lol(I got the WHOLE day off july 4th rofl) and tore it down. at first nothing looked wrong, except the fact that my input(4th) gear and the gear it meshes with on the countershaft were worn an alarming amount. The synchro for 2nd looked a little bit worn, so I continued to take the transmission apart. When I got to the 2nd gear synchro, I got looking at it, and there were 4 spots on the ring that looked like there had chunks missing. So I pulled the synchro off another gear, and noticed there were 4 tabs on that one........So, somehow, the idiot that had it before me yanked the tabs off the second gear synchro lol. Anyways, I've got $600 dollars worth of parts coming, and I'll basically have a brand spankin new tranny, minus reverse, the case itself, and 1,3,5 gears(the actual gear itself)

lol, its pretty nasty. apparently somone had beeni nto the tranny before(blue silicone instead of gaskets) and they actually replaced the 2nd and 3rd gear synchros, the ones for 4th and 1st were fried. they also put a new countershaft in, which is now fried because the thing was run extremely hot, the teeth on 4th gear and the meshing gear on the counter shaft are extremely sharp lol, about cut my hand open just taking it out(also had gear oil in it....which im pretty sure is supposed to be tranny fluid on these things...maybe something to do with the heat problem....) and they never cleaned the metal out of the bottom of the case, so when i took it apart i was expecting to see a gear completely bare or something lol.

yup world class, they only replaced the synchros that are two pieces, the ring with the tabs, then the smaller inner ring. The other one piece synchros(with the friction lining made on the ring) were not replaced, and all the friction lining is like, baked off. But the good news is I didnt have to buy a complete tranny lol
