Default RE: how much vac?

well i just tested my vacuum and was pulling 15 at idle (without using the vacuum tree on the firewall, used one comming out of the mainfold). and upwards to 30 or so around 4000rpms and it jumped to about 45 when it backfired ( timing is a tooth off right now). so it seems im pulling decent numbers in this area. now i just need to work on my brake issue and getting my trans workin right and this thing would be drivable. i think the previous owner had problems do to the single plane intake he had on it.

Camshaft duration is what will kill the vacumn.
I recently worked on a car with a very mild cam that was in Parks, AZ (7000' alt). The best we could ever get was 10#'s at idle. The altitude will have something to do with this also..........

hook your vac guage to a manifold vac source. I pulled a cap off the tree and hooked mine up there.

Well Iknow they just need blend really bad becase when i came home on leave my front resevior (pre 87 style)was empty for some reason (obviously a leak somewhere). but I do not have the time to mess with that right now. but all in do time. but I still need to get my timing straight first because I am a tooth off right now. so my vacuum advance will work correctly (idles really bad and backfires out the exhaust when the vacuum is hooked up)
