Popping through the intake

Popping through the intake
Its just problem after problem with this car. So i finally get the new Trick Flow Track Heat installed, and i take it around tthe block and my heater core explodes on my buddies leg, way cool there. So i bypass the heater core since i dont really care about it. Then i take it around teh block again and then it starts making this god awful noise under acceleration. It sounds like this hollow popping/pinging type of noise. I dont like this noise. I knew my valve lash was a little loose cuz it was making a bit of a clatter, so i pull the valve cover and adjust the lash. Start the car up again and same thing, that nasty *** noise. So i really listen to where the noise is comming from and it definatly sounds like there is popping through the intake. I am thinking maybe an intake valve is staying open or something. I dont really want to pull the heads off, but if i have to, i have too. If any one can help me out with some ideas that would be great. Thanks.

How's your timing? Is the dizzy installed properly or is it off? If you're only hearing or seeing slight problems then it could be off by one tooth. If it's backfiring really bad through the intake then maybe the dizzy is 180 degrees out. Judging by your description, that seems unlikely though.
Does it sound like just one valve or is it pretty consistant with all of them? May be worth checking the timing.

RE: Popping through the intake
The car ran fine, then i drove it for a little bit and thats when it started popping. I know the rockers clear the valve cover, they have worked for 3 years with no problem. I know things like pushrods length are all good, because ive used the same setup for years. The only thing i changed was the intake manifold. I checked the firing order, all the wires go to the correct cylinder. Base timing is set to 12*. I just set the valve lash, but im going to redo that just incase i tightened down the rocker too much. I dont want to pull the heads, so im trying to avoid that. thanks for the help
