older fords are notorious for "extra" wiring
for some reason, most fords in the mid-late 80's and early 90's have "extra" wires in the back of the radio, that are just loose. some people confuse them for power wires, etc. when installing a radio and pop their fuses.
pop it all back out and re-check the wiring and look for random wires not connected to anything. make sure everything is taped up nicely, no chance for an exposed wire to ground out anywhere
