Default Thermostat problem

Here's my problem. A few weeks ago my started quite a bit more than it normally does, so I decided to replace the thermostat. After I replaced it the housing started leaking. I took it apart and repolaced the gasket and used permatex to seal it. Same problem, it's still leaking!!! If anyone has anyvice on fix it would be greatly appriciated.

scrape the surface w/a gasket scraper or similar, clean the surface w/ a solvent and look for any deep scrapes(just to make sure) make sure u have new gasket (fel-pro mor similar quality) use the black permatex (works best) also make sure your thermo has a burp hole (dont think it would have any problems w/ sealing but will make u run cooler. Then assemble everything in order and torque to factory specs.

Also make sure there are no hairline cracks in the housing.

A very comon problem is that some people (myself included) dont get the thermostat in the right way and tighten it down and warp the housing... Check the housing to see if it is warpped and then make sure ( i used a rubberband to hold it in place with a pen through the band to keep it there till i was done..) that the thermo is in the right place then go ahead and tighten it down...

Here's what you need to do. Remove the therm housing, clean it off. Place the thermostat in the recessed lip of the housing and apply a film of silicone sealer to the housing and put the gasket in place. Let it set up for an hour or so and then install it on the manifold with the same sealer on the other side of the gasket. Snug it up and let it sit for maybe another hour or so and then torque it to (I think) 12 to 15 ft-lb. Check the torque in a manual.
