Default CARB OR FI?

I just got an 88 GT and wanted to get other opinions on going with carb or keeping it fi.I want to build a street/strip car it will not be driven that much. Its cheeper to go carb but I am new to carbs and V8's.I used to run Honda's before so I would like to know what experience do people with hooked up carb or fi have to say. Thanks

If I were building a street / strip car I'd go carb. Most likely a 347.

As much as it hurts to say it, that's what I would do. I love my EFI, and I love how easily I can tune it. But the reality is that I can squeeze more power out of a carb setup than fuel injected. Of course, I'd still throw a blower on it, 347 or not

Carb'ed all the way!!! it'll yield excellent power gains and you can do all the tuning without the aid of a tuner......also it'll be cheaper in the long run

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. You must add up each and decide what is right for you.

For me, I have 5 vehicles. 3 are carbed, only 2 injected. If I had more money to throw at my car hobby. They's all be injected.

I'll never convert from EFI...

I like my gas mileage, and the adaptability of my EFI system

IMHO, carbed may seem to make a little more power but injection seems to be were its at..
If you live in an area with IM -240 testing (SMOG) then injection ia the way to go.
I know all about carbs as I've been fooling with them for 40+ years ......
I know several NHRA stock eliminator racers with carbed cars and they say that injected cars with the same wieght break will out MPH them. That means the injected cars are making more HP.
Something to think about............

EFI ftw on smog and mileage(innearly allcases). Carb can have excellent throttle response when tuned properly. Carburetion is also much cheaper and simple and easier to mess, no sensors and wiring harnesses to worry about or fool with.In many cases EFI can make just as much or sometimes more power than carb, but there are newer carburetors coming out that are much better than the older stuff, that draw excellent metering signal with almost no manifold vacuum, that atomize fuel better etc. But like many things with performance engines, it comes down to the setup, someone who knows what they're doing with carbs will make more power than someone who doesn't with EFI, and vice versa. I think most of carburetion's bad rap though comes from people that don't know what they're doing and tune them improperly, then simply blame it on just being carburetion. Personally I like carburetion, but if I bought a new EFI car I wouldn't go to all the trouble to convert it
