On my recently purchased 92 gt, the drivers side power window stopped working. Took it to a ford dealership, expecting a bad motor or something, but was suprised when they told me that I needed a new window regulator and run channel.....But there was a problem because they couldnt figure out what year the actual door was, and couldnt order a part for a mystery door. The parts guy told me that the regulator and channel are the same from years 90 to 93. Of course, the guy I bought it from is mysteriously not answering his phone. What do I do????

 

Why couldn't you (they) just look at what you have now and order the same thing?

 

Theres gotta be a part number on the regulator

 

because they didnt know what the parts were off of or what year...

 

basically, the dealership told me that no part could be ordered because of the year of the door not being known, and that the window regulator and run channel looks like it came off of some other kind/year of car.

 

What PJB said is what i was reffering to. There has to be a part #. I dont know if there would be on the channels or not but hell, it is a FORD dealership, they would definatly know lol[sm=joke.gif].

 

I see what you guys are saying, but what they said to me was that they were the wrong parts to begin with....so ordering those parts again would lead to the same problem i have now. Which is that the window is crooked when rolled up and eventually stops working.

 

Check and see if there is a vin sticker on the bottom of the door. If so decode it and find out. If not look at the stamp date of the door. That should be under the door panel.

 

dealership said that theres no stamp date, and there isnt any vin sticker anywhere...how do I id the door? do i need to, or is there a universal window regulator and run channel??

 

anyone.....someone....anything.....please.....this dang car is frustrating me to no end.
