Default Help with vacuum reading

I hooked a vacuum gauge tothe pcv port onmy carburetor and I was wondering if youguys to help me analyze the reading. It's readingexactly at 15 Hg at idle. The needledoesn't bounce or moveso i'm happy about that, but I was wondering why it was low. My timing is set right around 12*. I tried bumping it a little, and that rose the vac. maybe 1 Hg at most. I'm only running 89octane.If i understand what i've read, it should be around 20 Hg. What would cause it to be low, and is thismakingmy car run worse than it should be? I'm still getting a feel forthe carsince i got the new carburetor.

Need to take the vacuum reading with the controlled vacuum leak the PCV is, or not removing it...... suggest to use the brake booster hose.

So I shouldn't use the PCV? Isn't it just a direct manifold source?

My bad..... if you don't have a functional PCV (breathers only) installed......[sm=itsok.gif] ..... if you have a PCV valve setup, then no......you should use an alternate vacuum port.
