Default Flywheel part numbers

Trying to get to the bottom of this starter grinding issue. The block says E7TE.. Now that could be any late 80's block, correct?

Through the starter hole, i can see the flywheel says E6ZR-AA .. Now is that just 1990 flywheel, or are they all the same? Will I be able to see more casting numbers on the flywheel if I rotate it, or are the other ones hidden?

That sounds about right. The part number break downs are (Decade)(Year)(Type of car)So E is the 80's, and 7 would be 87. And the third letter Z is for Mustang. The E6Z flywheel is what is was used. The flywheels are th same for several years. If you were to get an FRPP flywheel, it wuld still be an E6Z part.

****.. I was hoping I found out my starter problem if the PO put on the wrong flywheel or something.

Can I find the other flywheel number on the same area of the flywheel or does it have to come off for that?

Here is a pic from dormans website. This is how the numbers line up. You could see more if you turned the flywheel, but the rest of the numbers prolly won't tell you too much. I'm purty sure you have the correct flywheel on there and I'm guessing your starter is the culprit.
