I've been tinkering with my engine, I rebuilt it and now started it like a week ago, I fixed a few leaks and now I get it up to 3k or so after it warms up and I get smoke, blue smoke... I just rebuilt this engine, what is going on? I might be able to get a vid. on youtube. need help please!

what kind of oil is in it? also you need to give the rings time to break in

5w-30... how long you think for the rings to break in?

the last engine i rebuilt i put synthetic oil in after the first oil change at 500 miles. it smoked for probably 2000 miles but i beleive it was cuz of the synthetic. it should quit smoking well before 1000 miles

Well the thing is this is a pretty good amount of smoke...

did u even do the intial break in that gets the rings to set?

what did your rebuild consist of??? what brand rings did you use??? be build the heads??? like replace valve seals???

did you make sure your staggered the ring gaps?
did you install the rings right side up?
