SN95 rear in 89 fox, tire fitment question
Ok I have an 89 fox with a 7.5" with a spool in it but I have a 408 in the carso the 7.5 isn't going to hold up very long.
With a standard 8.8 for an 89fox I have found most people go with a 255/50/16 width tire which is aboutwhat I have on the car now. I have 245/50/16
One thing I am not exactly positive of, is the SN 95 rear a direct bolt in?
With the SN95 rear being 3/4" wider on each side.Using the same offset wheels from a standard fox rear, that would give me the ability to go, in theory with an 1 1/2" wider tire. I am sure people have done this I am wondering about fitment and rubbing. Would a 275/50/15 have any problems fitting under the car? Rolling out the fenders a bit is no problem.
I am going to go with Mickey Thompson ET Streets the 255/50/16 has a sidewall width of 10.5" with tread width 9.6"and the 275/50/15 has a sidewall width of 11.3"and tread width of 10.4" Both tires have equal diameters of 26.1"

RE: SN95 rear in 89 fox, tire fitment question
The only thing wider are the axles. If you want to keep it 4-lug, your axles will work fine. If you go with 5 lug, with the 408 you might want aftermarket axles. The housing itself is the same size. With the fox backspacing the tires will rub.
