ORIGINAL: white93pony

ok roller will last longer, smoother revvs, better throttle response. hyd is only good for about 6000-6500 rpm, but they dont need to be adjusted. mech roller and flat tappet will need to be adjusted periodically to keep them from tearing stuff up and keep the car running right. i dont personally like flat tappet would recommend roller to any one for all reasons. solid will revv to the moon!
there's both hydraulic flat tappet and solid flat tappets. all rollers have less friction than the flat tappet designs and the roller cams are much harder to wear out/destroy over the flat tappet cast iron pieces that must be broken in.. roller you put it in and run. i'm with white 93, go roller or go home. you'll save yourself alot of headache trying to get the hydraulic flat tappets set and you'll save alot of headache to avoid the solids too. there are jamnuts and all to help cut down on resetting the valve lash all the time but you still have to keep it in check.

Thanks for the help... as I looked around I found this tech article about cams. IT really helped me figure some of this stuff out.

So it is best to use roller lifters... does that require a roller cam?? and this is what people mean when they say "roller motor"? and is my year a roller motor?
