bearing clearance

Default bearing clearance

i am in the process of rebuilding my engine but i had a question if my bearing clearance is off how can i make it correct.

if you have too much????...well here's a way...they sell oversized bearings that are called 1's but I'm not a fan of doing it that way...the proper way would be to have the crank turned to .010 under and get the corresponding bearings...cause ones can often make it too tight....it all depends how far off you are???

The recommended maximum clearance for a Ford 302 is .0015". In reality, if you have .002 you should still be ok, but anything larger than that, you should go to the next size larger bearings and have the crank machined to match. Have you plastigauged it and if so, what is you clearance right now?

a little loose never hurt anyone, too tight will get you a blown up motor FAST
