Default T-5 main case differences/casting

So the weld on my tranny case didn't hold, still leaking after TIG and JB weld, and obviously sub par. I need to get a new one, contacted D&D they had me run out and send them pic of the tranny case b/c apparently there are two types of cases and everyone always orders the wrong one.

Mine is a "non reverse brake case," what does this mean? D&D rep didn't know (just guessed the internals are different), he just said that they are the minority of T-5 cases and I am going to have to wait 1.5 weeks for a new one as it is special order.

Anybody ever deal with Hanlon Motorsports out of PA? I had a friend say they were a big Tremec supplier. Anyone ever use Standard Transmission and Gear Co. off the internet (based out of Texas)?

I checked with Ford dealer and no one in the state has one, same time table for them to get it. They didn't know anything about two different style cases, just that the newest one is Ford casting number F6ZA7005AA. It doesn't make sense to get it from them as it is more expensive and may be the wrong part on top of it.

The old casting number on my T-5 is 13-52-065-908.

Any help would be appreciated

the difference is the type of spring they use for the reverse gear slider thingie.

if your trans has a bolt in the drivers side about half way up you have a 92-newer trans, if it doesnt then you have the older style.
why not just get one from a junkyard?

basically I called D&D b/c the I am doing it for the shop, andwhen I called them originally they told me I had them in stock. Some yard require you buy the whole tranny, and then the hsop is going to charge addtl labor to tear in to an old one, vs. one single part I am sure... I have a pic of the case, you mind if I e-mail it to you Silver91GT? I can't post for some reason.

I called Hanlon Motorsport and they said it doesn't matter in my application, that only the tail housing back changed, in like '85 or '86,she couldn't remember. hmmmmm?!?

Talked to Bob at Hanlon Moorsports in , he said either case could work. That if they sent out a case with a reverse brake, it would just have an extra hole in it thatcould just be filled by putting a bolt in it. Anyone know?

It sounds like he knows his stuff...

Why would question the knowledge of an expert such as Mr. Bob Hanlon?[sm=dontgetit.gif]
He has built many, many,many........T-5's. He will not steer you wrong!!

I highly recommend Hanlon Motor sports. Bob is the owner of the company.
I went to his shop (which also happens to be at his house) and purchased a rebuilt kit and some gears from him and also called him and had parts shipped on another occasion. Somewhere around here I have a vhs (how to rebuild a t-5) I purchased from him. It's his own video that was filmed in his shop, it walks you through dis assembly, inspection, and reassembly.

ok, the thing you unscrewed there is for the reverse lights, you have an older case which is easier to put together in my opinion.
either way you will need some new bearings for the cluster shaft.
it is pretty easy to do too. theres a rebuild manual here somewhere

fourfivefour: I was just double checking about the case, D&D rep didn't seem all that knowledgeable. I actually ordered one up from Bob, he definitely is the man! Seems like a great guy and great communication/follow through. I will direct any future business toward him with whatever tranny parts I need.

Thanks everyone for your help, and dimebag for your offer.
