engine swap info needed
want to drop a 5.0 H.O. out of a 1990 model Mustang LX in to replace my !983 3.8 Mustang GL motor the 5.0 is EFI and my 3.8 is carberated and i have a 3 speed automatic transmission in the car will it bolt up? What might i possibly have to change to make all this work properly in my 1983 mustang?
well the cheapest route is turn the 5.0 motor into a carbed engine by just using the long block and get a carb'ed intake and use an elec fuel pump so you don't have to swap timing covers...you'll need 5.0 motor mounts and either get a c-4 and use it or an aod and all the necessary kickdown linkage or adapters..and a lot of other little stuff you'll need...long story short ..it'll be a good sized project
new cross member for the dual exhaust... computer... motor mounts... tranny.. driveshaft... change rear end to 8.8" (Don't have to, but why back a V8 with a weenie 7.5") ... $$$... Time...
Other than that, nothing.
Other than that, nothing.
i pretty sure the v6k members are the only ones you CANT just throw a 5.0 in, so in other words i think you will need a 5.0 or 4 bangers k member. so if u got a donor car take that too.
