help! ticking noise from stud mount roller rockers?
ok this is starting to really **** me off I dont know if there just suppost to be noisey or what. I just installednewheads and a cam and mycar runs great but there isnoise coming from the rockers. I have new 1.6 stud mounted roller rockers, pushrods, and cam and im using the oem lifters that were in perfect shape with low miles so I doubt its them. Am I adjusting the rockers right this is how I adjusted them.
turned over engine by hand until intake rocker is fully open then half way back down, then adjusted the exhaust valve by turningthenuthand tight until the slop was out of the pushrod
and there was only a slight drag then turned them a extra 1/2 turn then tightened theallen screw.
Then I did the intake side by turning then engine over until the exhaust side started opening then tighted nut by hand until slop was out of the pushrod then 1/2 turn more and locked it down?
Can new roller rockers just naturally be noisy?? This is driving me crazy

often more than not roller rockers tend to be noisy...but you need to make sure that if your using stock valve covers that you either clearnced the covers in the baffle area or they will rub slightly and when I do the valvetrain I roll each cylinder up to tdc and set both intake and exhaust at once then go to the next cylinder in the firing order and do the same but using the split overlap methood will work fine too

i'm running comp magnum 1.6 rockers on studs, and they are just noisy as hell. Its kind of irritating. My buddy is running aluminum rockers and his are freakin quiet. Wish i had spent more money on rockers...

sounds like you adjusted them right to me. while you have a cover off to check out your rocker / cover clearance you should see how much slop you have between your pushrods and guideplates. sometimes you can bend the little pieces on the ends of the guideplates and tighten the gap up a little bit which can help quiet things down if they are sloppy.

oil pressure is high and I just got this motor together it seems to be running great just ticking. I have only ran it for about 5 minutes with the new rod bearings and top end. The lifter's came out of this engine withlow mileson them and looked great its been my daily driver for the last year.
Maybe it just needs to be ran longer?
